Uniting People to Do Good: A Call to Collective Action and Kindness
Today, Rotary District 9213 proudly launches the 2025–2026 Rotary year with a simple yet
powerful mission: to unite people to do good. This initiative aims to bring together individuals,
communities, and organizations to create meaningful change through kindness, collaboration, and
service.
The Rotary year runs from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026, with each month highlighting a specific
theme aligned with Rotary’s key areas of service:
• July – Maternal and Child Health
• August – Membership and New Club Development
• September – Basic Education and Literacy
• October – Community Economic Development
• November – The Rotary Foundation
• December – Disease Prevention and Treatment
• January 2026 – Vocational Service
• February 2026 – Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention
• March 2026 – Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene
• April 2026 – Environment
• May 2026 – Youth Service
• June 2026 – Rotary Fellowships
In each of these months, clubs across the district will mobilize communities and partners to tackle
local and global challenges.
District Governor Geoffrey Kitakule, who will lead over 137 Rotary clubs, 5,349 Rotarians, and
3,011 Rotaractors, brings extensive experience and deep commitment to Rotary's values.
“I’m honored to serve as District Governor,” Kitakule said. “This year, we’re uniting
for good—working with communities and partners to create lasting change.”
He emphasized the importance of partnerships and called on government, the private sector, and
civil society to join Rotary in implementing sustainable, community-driven projects.
District 9213 has a proud legacy of impactful initiatives, including clean water projects, education
programs, and health services. Signature campaigns this year include:
• The Annual Cancer Run (August)
• Run for the Nile (environmental preservation)
• Africa Peace Concert (in support of the Rotary Peace Center at Makerere University)
• Ongoing efforts to End Polio, empower youth, and promote peace
1This year, Rotary District 9213 will also focus on storytelling — amplifying real-life examples of how
unity and service transform lives. Communities are encouraged to share their experiences using
hashtags #Unite4Good9213, #D9213RotaryCares, and #RotaryEyamba.
As the world seeks hope and solidarity, Rotary’s call to "Unite for Good" aims to inspire collective
action and build stronger, more resilient communities.
About Rotary
Rotary is an organization of business and professional persons united worldwide, who provide
humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill
and peace in the world. It is a global network of community volunteers, totaling about 1.2 million
members, operating in approximately 200 countries and geographical regions.
Rotary clubs are grouped into administrative units called Districts. In Uganda, there are two
Rotary Districts: 9213 and 9214, which also include clubs from Tanzania. Rotary District 9213
comprises over 5,349 Rotarians in 137 clubs and over 3,173 Rotaractors in 134 clubs.
Rotary clubs are non-political, inclusive, and non-discriminatory, embracing all religions,
cultures, races, and creeds. This diversity is central to the Rotary motto: "Service Above Self."
Rotary’s main objective is to provide service in the community, in the workplace, and throughout
the world.
In Uganda, Rotary clubs have implemented and continue to implement impactful humanitarian
projects aimed at assisting the less fortunate in our communities. Some of the notable national
projects include the Mwanamujimu project in Mulago, the Cancer Centre at Nsambya Hospital,
the Dialysis Center, and the Blood Bank at Mengo Hospital, among many others.
Additionally, Uganda is home to the only Rotary Peace Center in Africa, located at Makerere
University. This center plays a vital role in training peacebuilders and leaders from across the
continent and beyond.
