Centenary Bank emerged as the dominant force at the 10th edition of the Rotary 5 Aside Tournament, organized by the Rotary Club of Kiwatule and partners, after its two teams claimed victory in both the Rotary and Corporate categories.
The one-day tournament brought together Rotary, Rotaract and corporate teams in a celebration of football, fellowship and the spirit of service.
In the Rotary category, Rotary Club of Mapeera lifted the trophy after finishing first, taking home UGX 5 million, gold medals and the tournament trophy.
Rotary Club of Nakasero Central finished second, earning UGX 3 million and silver medals, while Rotary Club of Kiboga placed third taking home UGX 2 million and a match ball.
In the Rotaract category, Rotaract Club of Gayaza Football emerged victorious, taking home the trophy, gold medals and UGX 2.5 million. Rotaract Club of Manyangwa finished second taking home UGX 1.5 million, while Rotaract Club of Bweyogerere Namboole came third and received UGX 1 million cash prize.
The Corporate category was won by Centenary Bank Team A, which took the trophy, gold medals and UGX 3 million, while PKF finished second, receiving UGX 2 million cash prize.
Individual players were also recognized for outstanding performances throughout the tournament.
In the Best Female Player category, Shadia Nankya of Rotaract Club of Gayaza Football won the Rotaract award, Rtn. Juliet Nakimera of Rotary Club of Mapeera was named the Rotary winner, while Tumushabe Alinda took the Corporate award.
The Best Goalkeeper awards went to Rct Kalema Raymond of Rotaract Club of Gayaza Football, Rtn. Ssenabulya Herbert of Rotary Club of Mapeera and Olga Rukia of Centenary Bank Team A.
The Top Scorer awards were won by Ayebare in the Rotaract category, Rtn. Simon Okwi of Rotary Club of Kampala Islanders in the Rotary category, and Brian Sebunya of PKF in the Corporate category.
District 9213 Governor Rtn. Gerald Obai congratulated the winners and all the clubs and teams that participated in the tournament. He commended Rotary Club of Kiwatule and its partners for successfully organizing the event and highlighted the unity and camaraderie demonstrated by participants both on and off the pitch.
He noted that the tournament reflected the Rotary spirit of family and fellowship showing that while teams may compete on the pitch, they remain united by a shared commitment to Rotary and community service.
